St Helens Sinfonietta presents about ten events a year, performed by professional musicians. Some have played with the Sinfonietta since its foundation, while others have been welcomed to the ranks much more recently. There are usually two orchestral concerts with ensembles of varying sizes, held either at the Sinfonietta’s home venue, Ormskirk Street United Reformed Church, or for larger concerts, St Helens Town Hall. Other events are recitals on Saturday evenings or Thursday afternoons. These have solo performers or small groups, including less usual combinations of instruments and also jazz. With our variety of performers and repertoire, we seek to engage a wide audience and to collaborate with organisations throughout St Helens.
To discover more about the Sinfonietta’s history under its founder Alan Free, our past Musical Director Jay Hall, links with schools and the Music Hub, and our plans for the future, please follow the links on the About page.
